John Legend calls Donald Trump ‘racist’ in Twitter feud

It’s safe to say that John Legend won’t be voting for presidential hopeful, Donald Trump.

On Friday, March 11, the Oscar and Grammy winning singer entered in a Twitter spat with the GOP front-runner’s son Donald Trump Jr. shortly after news broke that Trump had cancelled a Chicago rally appearance. It all went down after the expectant father replied to Trump Jr.’s tweet about Trump’s Friday cancellation.

“Ha 5 students when asked why they were protesting couldn’t even answer. The participation medal/micro aggression generation is pretty sad!” Trump Jr., 38, wrote to which Legend fired back: “@DonaldJTrumpJr I think they were protesting your racist father. This isn’t complicated.”

Meanwhile Legend’s wife, Chrissy Teigen fully backed her hubby’s rant. “Got em” she tweeted in the midst of the drama.

But it didn’t stop there. Random Twitter users chimed in attacking Legend for having an opinion despite his alleged lack of education. “@johnlegend @DonaldJTrumpJr – is John Legend that disgraceful? No education,” wrote one user. Only it appeared the user himself had not educated himself on the fact that Legend and the Donalds graduated from the same university. “Now we know John Legend is a racist who hates white people,” wrote another user.

Meanwhile fans jumped to Legend’s defense, applauding his decision to speak his mind. “Thank you for speaking up. Scary that so many in public eye are letting him get away w/ this without calling it for what it is,” shared another user. In response, Trump Jr. said, “Here we go again. That can’t be the answer for everything you don’t like. That’s why the country is so divided now!”
