There used to be a variation on a joke that Katt Williams was always getting arrested. But the joke is becoming a dark reality for Williams as he found himself in the Fulton County Jail on Friday.
Williams had been in the Hall County Jail since March 8, 2016, as a result of a raid at his Gainesville, Georgia, home. During the raid, police found a large amount of marijuana and firearms when executing a warrant over an alleged assault by Williams. Bodyguard Corey Dixon alleged that he was held against his will for several hours and beaten with a baseball bat by Williams and a female companion, who was identified as Tatiana Smith. Williams was initially charged with aggravated assault, false imprisonment and terror threats with of drug and gun charges pending by the Hall County Sheriff’s office. A bond of $66,470 was set on by a judge and Williams paid the amount Friday, March 11, but while being processed, he was in for a shock. The Atlanta Police Department put a hold on his release over past warrants.
“We do have warrants on Katt Williams. He is being transferred today to Fulton County from Hall County. He is being charged with entering auto, theft by taking, and simple battery,” said Atlanta police spokesperson Kim Jones.
Police have not specified the exact charges that Williams is facing in Atlanta. There is speculation that the charges could be related to an event on March 2, 2016, where Williams is accused of assaulting a group of women and snatching their cellphones. Williams bonded out of the infamous Fulton County Jail late Friday night. As he left the facility, heavy bandages were seen on both of his hands. Williams gave no comment at the time of his release.
