Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey have been bosom buddies for years and it seemed like their bond deepened when Perry jumped ship from TBS to Winfrey’s OWN network to develop multiple TV shows for the growing cable network. However, this week rumors began to pop up that the friendship was falling apart because of allegations that Perry has an inflated ego. But is the rumor true or just a fabricated story to drum up drama about Perry and Winfrey?

As previously reported, sources claimed that Perry and Winfrey’s friendship and business relationship has become strained over the last several months thanks to a conversation this past summer when Winfrey allegedly suggested to Perry that he hire additional writers to help him develop “The Haves and The Have Nots,” as well as his other shows on OWN.

But according to the source, the conversation didn’t turn out well and Perry allegedly rebuffed Winfrey’s suggestions.

“That’s when Oprah finally got to see a side of Tyler she hadn’t experienced yet. He resisted her feedback, the same way he resists the feedback of critics and media people who chastise his work, and became extremely defensive with her,” the source said.

The source added, “When Tyler first brought his shows to OWN in 2012, it was a love affair between the two of them. Oprah was very involved in watching Tyler develop them creatively and they even shot promos together with her as Miss Sophia from The Color Purple and he as Madea. But that relationship has soured in the last six months because Oprah finds Tyler difficult to work with and he doesn’t take constructive criticism well at all.”

The source claimed that Winfrey was keeping her distance from Perry and that she even went as far as to bar him from attending her annual Christmas holiday event.

Well, before the rumor got too out of hand, Winfrey’s best friend, Gayle King, decided to step in yesterday and she posted a screenshot of an article on the rumor and claimed that it simply isn’t true.

“Huh? Just reading @Oprah & @tylerperry are angry w/each other & not speaking if that’s true (it ‘ain’t’)must have just happened 10 min ago!” King captioned the photo.

Well, there you have it. It looks like the rumor really was fabricated.
