Rihanna and her Navy continue to ride high as her latest album, Anti, once again lands atop the Billboard Top 200 chart.
Propelled by her Drake assisted hit single “Work,” which has ruled the Hot 100 chart for a little over a month, Anti registered 54K equivalent albums (17K in pure sales) last week to push past Adele’s 25 and claim the crown for the second time in the six weeks since its release.
Anti marks the second No. 1 album of Rihanna’s career (2012’s Unapologetic was her first) and the first time ever that the 28-year-old singer has had an album spend more than a week at No. 1. The album has also awarded Rihanna some trailblazing accolades as she was recognized by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) shortly after Anti’s release as being the first ever recording artist in RIAA history to be certified with 100 million song awards.
More sales and chart-toppers could be on the horizon for the Barbadian beauty, as she is currently in the middle of her Anti world tour, which kicked off in San Diego last month.
Elsewhere on the chart, there was a bit of movement after Ri Ri’s reclaiming of the number one spot. Adele’s 25 fell just short of Rihanna’s total as she logged another 51K units. Justin Bieber’s critically acclaimed album Purpose jumped a couple of spots to land at number three this week. Christian country duo Joey + Rory’s latest, Hymns, ascended two notches as well to claim the number four position. And rounding out the top five is last week’s number one album, Kendrick Lamar’s untitled unmastered.
