Rihanna takes time out of her busy schedule to help a longtime fan come out of the closet. The best part? It wasn’t for publicity.

According to the fan, who wished to stay anonymous, the two met on Twitter, reports Buzzfeed. It all began when the 28-year-old reached out to RiRi on social media, after feeling like he had no one to talk to. To his surprise, not only did the “Work” singer respond, but she helped him come to terms with his sexuality over a period of exchanges. “I just wanna live as the person I really am, not as a liar,” he wrote in a shared screenshot of their heartfelt conversation.

“Baby it’s okay to be scared but it’s more important to be who you are!” responded Rihanna. “You don’t have a choice really! That’s not a decision to be made! You are who you are, and as hard as it may seem, the best sh*t ever is freedom and peace within yourself! Your family may not understand, but luckily you live in a generation that does!!”

Naturally, their conversation has since spread all over the Internet and people are expressing their appreciation for the superstar’s encouraging words. With her support, the fan eventually came out to a close friend. “:I finally came out to my second close friend over here,” he wrote. “I’m feeling so good Rih, thanks to you.” Of course, the “Umbrella” singer followed up with him, asking, “How did she [the friend] react?” (The friend was happy for him, by the way.)

Up next, the fan reveals that he hopes to be fully out of the closet to the rest of his loved ones by July, when he’ll be attending Rihanna’s ANTI tour and meeting the “Diamonds” singer in person. “Thank YOU for being honest!!” Rihanna wrote in the final screenshot. “I’m so happy you’re getting what you deserve! I’ll be forever supporting you, you were here from day 1.”
