Kerry Washington signs a huge development deal.

As one of ABC’s biggest stars, it’s no surprise that the “Scandal” star would partner with the network that made her a household name. According to Variety, Washington’s production company, Simpson Street, will develop for broadcast, cable and digital projects exclusively for ABC Studios and ABC Signature. Talk about a big deal.

“I believe strongly in the importance of having a seat at the table, which makes starting this production company thrilling for me. It’s an honor to be at a point in my career when I can help generate projects that are exciting, necessary, and truly reflect the world around us,” Washington said in a statement. “I’m grateful to be on this journey with ABC, a network that remains unparalleled in its commitment to inclusive storytelling.”

As you may recall, Washington, an actress, producer, and Broadway star first ventured off into production for HBO’s Confirmation, in which she starred as Anita Hill. Not only does her new, two-year pact open the door for a wide variety of diverse programming, but it maintains the 39-year-old’s place as one of Hollywood’s biggest triple threats. For nine more of Hollywood’s biggest triple threats making big moves in Tinseltown, hit the flip.
