CIA claims sole ‘torture report’ was ‘mistakenly’ deleted

In “c’mon son” news, an internal watchdog at the Central Intelligence Agency had the nerve to report to the good American people that the CIA inspector general somehow mistakenly deleted both the electronic and hard copies of the long-awaited “torture report,” which outlines the agency’s enhanced interrogation techniques. Most readers will recall the importance of this document as it relates to internal reports of agents using illegal torture tactics that are strictly prohibited by the Department of Justice, particularly during brutal post-9/11 interrogations. While other federal agencies maintain copies of the Senate Intelligence Committee’s 6,700-page report, the lack in transparency in its release to the public by the Obama administration after years of fighting has left many lawmakers and citizens with a sour taste in their mouths. Understandably, the agency’s claim of losing its sole copy is inexcusable and calls into question just how “intelligent” the agency thinks the American public is.

Apparently, the answer to the question is “not very intelligent.” Yahoo News reported details of an explanation of the mishap that’s akin to an 8-year-old saying his dog ate his homework. Apparently, for some reason inside officals deleted the sole uploaded version of the report and moved on to somehow destroy the only disk containing the report. I’ll say it: “C’mon son.”

In concert with my choice words is former Chair and current ranking Democrat Sen. Dianne Feinstein, who wrote to CIA Director John Brennan and Attorney General Loretta Lynch requesting that IG immediately provide the inspector general’s office with another copy. She wrote, “Your prompt response will allay my concern that this was more than an ‘accident.’”

So, do you believe the CIA’s story? Or is Feinstein getting at something implying that this is like more than an unfortunate accident? Sound off in the comments section below.
