Once upon a time, Don King worked as a numbers runner and went by “Donald the Kid” in Cleveland where he ran an illegal gambling house. When King walked in on Hillary Brown allegedly robbing the house, he shot him in the back. King claimed self-defense and, ultimately, the court classified it as “justifiable homicide.” Then, in 1996, the boxing promoter was charged with manslaughter after he gunned down an employee for running off with his money. After serving almost four years in prison, he received a pardon from the Ohio governor at the time.
