Detroit’s hip-hop radio station, Hot 107.5, hosted Summer Jamz 19 on Saturday, June 11 at Chene Park Amphitheater — a waterfront venue for epic concerts in the heart of the city. Every year at the Detroit Summer Jamz, thousands of fans, young, old, and from various backgrounds packed out a concert space in downtown Detroit. Icewear Vezzo, Neisha Nashae, Sino and M-City J.R., a few of Detroit’s artists blazed the stage this year with the songs “Moon Walken,” “On a Cloud,” “Play” and “Addicted to my Ex.”
Hip-hop recording artist K Camp hit the stage with his entourage performing the singles “Cut Her Off” and “Comfortable” off his album Only Way Up. Headlining the concert was platinum-selling artist 2 Chainz and Grammy Award-winning artist Lil Wayne. The duo have been working on various independent projects as well as collaborating on various songs for with one another and other artists. The two Southern rappers dual performed a 90-minute set making the entire concert “LIT.” 2 Chainz flashed his two chains as he performed songs such as “Watch Out,” “Spend It” and “Birthday Song.” Lil Wayne flaunted his skateboard moves across the stage rapping his songs “Amilli,” “Lollipop” and took us back with “Go DJ.”
Together, the artists performed multiple songs from the collaboration album, Collegrove and the crowd went crazy when they heard the song “Rich As F—. The two artists brought the heat and left the crowd screaming for more. Detroit has been looking forward to this concert and by the size of the crowd, yelling fans, and standing ovations, we can say they were more than satisfied. We look forward to Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz returning to Detroit with new music and hot performances.
