Nick Cannon dishes on co-parenting, the perfect Father’s Day and much more.

When it comes to the “perfect Father’s Day,” Cannon tells People, “give me some macaroni necklaces, finger paint art, a trip to Chucky Cheese or the movies — the cool laid-back stuff. My kids are s dream. So, that’s all I ask for — big hugs.”

The “America’s Got Talent” host went on to reveal that of his two children, son Moroccan is most like him. “Rock all day,” said Cannon. “He thinks everything is hilarious — everything is a joke — takes nothing seriously. He’s definitely hyperactive and wants to question everything — stand on everything. It’s me all over again.”

Meanwhile, when it comes to co-parenting with ex-wife Mariah Carey, Cannon says the secret to making it work, is “putting the kids first.”

“Luckily I’ve been blessed to share this experience with someone I admire and have so much respect for and I think the feeling is mutual,” Cannon said of Carey. “At the end of the day you have to be a little selfless. This may not have worked out how we wanted it to, but look at the amazing blessing we have. So, you kind of put everything else to the side and focus on them.”

In January 2015, Cannon filed for divorce from Carey, with whom he shares 4-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe, following six years of marriage. The duo’s road to divorce was certainly a rocky one, with many public twists and turns, with allegations of infidelity on Cannon’s part, jealousy and a struggle for power.

While Carey has since moved on with fiancé James Packer. Cannon revealed earlier this year that he has no plans to remarry. “I feel like marriage isn’t for everyone,” he told DuJour in January. “A friend of mine put it the funniest way. He said, ‘If you heard that there was a 50/50 chance of living or dying when you jump out of a plane, you probably wouldn’t go skydiving.’ There’s like a 50/50 chance of a marriage working. If it didn’t work out for you the first time, and you still survived it, you probably shouldn’t do it again.”

In spite of it all, we’re happy to see the pair have moved past all the drama for the sake of their children.
