On the 20th anniversary opening night red carpet, I was a part of sharing a glimpse of the many stories to be told at ABFF. Having been a long-time fan of the festival, this wasn’t just any red carpet for me. My special affinity for American Black Film Festival began years ago as it became the reason for an annual girl’s trip with my mom. Although I worked in the entertainment industry, it was fun just to be a film enthusiast and supporter of the powerful platform founded by Jeff Friday.The energy on the red carpet was thrilling. Whether the film expresses pain or laughter, my interviewees shared their journey with lots of soul. A hot theme this year is just that… hot, sizzling passion along with lessons in classic scandal and bad behavior. Get ready to take notes because these filmmakers are definitely ready to teach.
