For Christine White, development in the African American community is imperative. The attorney and activist presently serves as co-founder and president of Influencer Coalition (icATL), a political organization composed of entertainment industry professionals in the state of Georgia. “It’s important we know there’s a direct relationship between social change and community economic strength,” White enlightens.
Influencer Coalition is a group of entrepreneurs primarily in the entertainment media space. White points out members are “entrepreneurially minded and have an economic focus.”
When news broke earlier this month that 8,000 accounts were opened in six days at Citizens Trust Bank, White couldn’t pass up the opportunity to showcase her delight and infectious smile on social media.
“With #BankBlack, we answered the call of Michael Render, professionally known as Killer Mike. He’s a longtime activist and organizer. We were blessed to have him speak at one our town halls, he really gave us the charge to organize around Black economics. We responded to that and joined him in an effort with Shaka Zulu to move accounts to Citizens Trust Bank. I am a business manager and moved [the accounts] of some of the entertainers whom I worked with to Citizens Trust Bank. Influencer Coalition helped the bank promote that effort so we can encourage more business owners and individuals to bank with Citizens Trust, specifically and with Black banks in the community where they live.”
A speaker, author, angel investor and business adviser, the Bay Area, California, native is a managing attorney at White Legal Strategy Group LLC, a boutique law firm that provides entertainment, business and tax law solutions to creatives and businesses.
“As a financial professional, it was really important for me to impress upon my clients that there’s an economic benefit to banking with a bank that is involved in the community, committed to the community and that has close ties to our community,” offers the entertainment and business attorney who represents people in music, film, media and TV.
White is a proud alumna of Spelman College, John Marshall Law School and Georgia Institute of Technology. She also operates a business management, accounting, bookkeeping and tax representation firm.
“Our ability to defend ourselves and defend our communities is directly connected to our economic leverage,” she closes.
