It came as a shock to music fans earlier this year when Brandy revealed that her music career had been brought to an abrupt stop thanks to a dispute with her record label in which they barred her from releasing any new music. For months, fans have been hoping that Brandy would be able to quickly fix the matter and get back to making new music. However, reports have revealed that things have gotten nasty between Brandy and Chameleon Records, because they recently claimed that she’s a hasbeen.

As previously reported, the drama first began in March when the singer, who originally signed with Chameleon in 2011 to release the album Two Eleven, decided to file a lawsuit against the record label, claiming that the label is blocking her from recording new music or releasing a new album. Brandy claims that the label has resorted to such tactics in order to get her to sign a new recording contract with them.

According to court documents, the original deal allowed Chameleon the option to release four more Brandy Records. However, Brandy is claiming in her suit that Chameleon is refusing to allow her to record new music for her upcoming album. She also claimed that they tried to block her from other avenues of making money, like performing on Broadway, and that they owe her hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Since then, things had been quiet about the lawsuit. However, reports surfaced this week, claiming that Chameleon CEO Breyon Prescott recently opened up about the lawsuit and claimed that Brandy is only suing his label because she wants to drum up publicity for her allegedly failing music career.

According to reports, Prescott allegedly claims that Brandy’s days of making hits are over and that Chameleon took a risk “signing an artist that hasn’t had a chart single success since the early 2000s.”

Well, Brandy’s team has responded to Prescott’s alleged claims and her rep says that if that’s how Chameleon really feels about her, then they should “release her from the contract.”
