It was four years ago that “RuPaul’s Drag Race” fans were dealt a heavy blow when season 2 contestant Sahara Davenport passed away from heart failure. Davenport’s death brought a heavy and dark cloud over the drag community, but none were in mourning like her partner, season 3 “Drag Race” star Manila Luzon. Now, years after her partner’s passing, Luzon recently opened up about the impact that Davenport had on her life.

In a new interview with “Drag Race” hosts RuPaul and Michelle Visage, Luzon explained that Davenport will always live on in her and that she’s finally learned to live with the memories of her lost love.

“She is embedded into my soul at this point,” said Luzon. “It has been enough years that the pain of losing someone has gone away so now its just living through memories I’m still very close friends with all of her friends. It’s just a part of my life now. It was a really huge learning experience to know that this time on earth is just temporary.”

Since Davenport’s passing, Luzon has continued her drag career, appearing on the first season of the all-stars version of “Drag Race” and commercials for Orbitz. Luzon has also found love in a new partner. Although Luzon has moved on with her career and love life, she explains that Davenport will always inspire her.

“She got to live her life fully the way she wanted to, she got to be on the show,” Luzon said. “She got to show the world her ability to dance and her joy and her beauty and I’m happy I can carry that on for her, and I will gladly keep her in the fans’ memories. I always bring things back to Sahara.”

We’re glad that Luzon is in a good place in her life now and rest in peace to Davenport.
