Civil Rights icon Harry Belafonte teamed up with T.I. to host a town hall meeting ahead of the Many Rivers to Cross festival. Held at the Gathering Spot in Atlanta, the town hall shed light on social issues that plague Black America such as police brutality, economic inequality, and education.
Belafonte was handed the Phoenix Award by Atlanta’s Mayor Kasim Reed for his tremendous work as a leader for social justice.
The festival, currated by Belafonte’s daughter Gina, will host musical guests such as T.I., Public Enemy, Carlos Santana and entertainers such as Jamie Foxx, Wanda Sykes and Chris Rock.
Many Rivers to Cross will take place at Bouckaert Farm in Fairburn, Georgia on Oct. 1 and Oct. 2.
