David Mitchell leads BOOK to improve education for Black kids in Atlanta

What kind of activations and events can we look forward to?

We host a number of informative panel discussions, roundtables and town hall meetings to keep parents informed about the changing environment of public education. Again, our goal is to ensure that African Americans have options that help our children achieve.

We have two events upcoming:

  • ViewPoint OSD Discussion October 6 @ The Gathering Spot 384 Northyards Blvd., NW, Atlanta, GA 30313: (Better Outcomes For Our Kids (BOOK) along with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the Upsilon Alpha Omega Chapter in Gwinnett County, Gwinnett County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.’s Kappa Omega and Psi Alpha Omega Chapters are partnering on this public forum to discuss the new legislative proposal to create a statewide “Opportunity School District.”
  • OSD Community Conversation  – October 24 @ The Gathering Spot 384 Northyards Blvd., NW, Atlanta, GA 30313

How does BOOK utilize social media?

Social media are playing an increasingly larger role in the lives of all parents. We utilize a variety of social media platforms to keep parents informed, such as Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook in our media mix. We also utilize online forums in a controlled environment to get objective feedback from parents about a variety of issues. Social media can provide us with instant, two-way communications and that is very valuable to us.
