Last year police found the body of Michael Wright, 35, a University of Arizona basketball star, and draft pick for the Knicks abandoned in an SUV on a Brooklyn, New York, street. Wright had a head injury and his body was covered with plastic garbage bags in the back of the vehicle. Now police have arrested two men in connection with the crime.

Police say that his longtime roommate in Closter, New Jersey, Mark A. Holdbrooks, 59, and an accomplice, David (King Victor) Victor, 35, have been arrested and charged with his killing, according to Bergen County Acting Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal. It is alleged that the two men drugged Wright and then killed him at their residence before reporting him missing in November 2015, saying they had not seen him for three days. They then drove his body to Brooklyn where it was found. The two suspects were arrested on Tuesday of this week and face murder charges. Bail has been set at $3 million each and the pair will be extradited to New York.

Wright had a promising career and played for the Arizona Wildcats between 1998 and 2000, He was drafted by the Knicks in 2001 but never was able to make it to the team roster. He found another career with basketball by playing in an international circuit in Poland, Turkey and France. In January 2015 his luck changed and he was signed to play with Cholet Basket, a pro team in France, but left the team after a month. No motive has been released for Wright’s killing at this time.
