Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson found himself in a major Hollywood beef this past August after he blasted his Fast 8 co-stars in a much-talked-about Facebook post. Since then, news around the beef has simmered down. But recently, Johnson brought the beef back to the forefront when he explained that he has no regrets about his scathing post about his cast mates.
As previously reported, in the Facebook post, Johnson praised the movie’s female stars, saying they were the definition of professional. However, he blasted the movie’s male stars, saying they were the exact opposite.
“Some conduct themselves as stand-up men and true professionals, while others don’t,” he wrote “The ones that don’t are too chicken s— to do anything about it anyway. Candy a–es.”
Although Johnson never name-dropped anyone, subsequent posts alluded to the film series’ star, Vin Diesel, who later posted a Facebook video telling his fellow co-stars not to react to Johnson’s post.
“Proud of our collective, stay positive — I mean that — don’t beat anybody up,” he said with a smile.
In a recent interview, Johnson opened up about the beef and explained that, despite bringing public attention to the tense mood on set with his cast mates, he has no regrets about blasting them online.
“I was very clear with what I said. I’ve been in the game a long time,” Johnson said.
In fact, he adds that the public feud ended up having a positive effect on the promotion of the film to fans.
“Would Universal [Pictures] have preferred that didn’t happen? Sure, we talked about it. The irony is after that and as they do their tracking and all their analysis, the interest shot through the roof to a whole other level,” he added.
Well, as the saying goes, there’s no such thing as bad promotion and clearly, millions of fans still want to see this film.
