Tokyo Toni is taking on the Kardashians, again.
Earlier this week, news broke that Blac Chyna, whose real name is Angela Renée White had recently filed a motion to legally trademark the name “Angela Renée Kardashian” for business purposes, in addition to the moniker for her social media platforms. Shortly thereafter, the Kardashian sisters’ corporations — Khloemoney Inc., 2Die4Kourt and Kimsaprincess Inc. — swooped in, vowing to stop the plea, at any cost.
Though it appears the Kardashian clan would have a case — as defined by the U.S. trademark laws, trademark infringement “hinges on whether there is a likelihood of confusion caused by the two marks at issue.” — Chyna’s legal counsel, Walter Mosley, claimed the opposition came as a shock. “I filed this trademark with the utmost confidence that it would not be opposed at all. I did not foresee this, but in retrospect maybe I could have, all things considered,” Mosley, recently told People. “I’m going to zealously represent my client in a trademark we legally filed and a name that we feel like we own and need to protect.”
According to court documents, the Kardashians have “spent, and continue to invest, a substantial amount of time, resources and money in protecting, advertising and promoting the ‘Kardashian’ marks” and that “the public has come to associate goods and services bearing their brand.”
The company’s filing also accuses the reality star of “deliberately seeking to profit from the goodwill and popularity” of their Kardashian marks. The paperwork claims that each of them will “suffer damage including irreparable injury to their reputation and goodwill” which is “likely to cause confusion, or to cause mistake, or to deceive consumers.”
Now, Chyna’s outspoken mother, Tokyo Toni, has taken to Instagram to chime in with her feelings concerning the entire ordeal — dubbing her daughter “an ambassador to all women today.”
“Blacchyna has my support 110 percent no matter what! You can’t you just can’t stop what God has plans for,” she wrote via Instagram on Friday, Dec. 11. “Ps People need to relax it’s enough shine money TV airtime play selfie sticks and camera footage for everyone! Sharing is caring but hold up didn’t they watch Mr. Rogers neighborhood!”
Meanwhile, neither Kim, Khloe, or Kourtney have publicly commented on the suit.
