Drake teases return to acting

Drake sets his sights on acting … again.

During a recent chat on the Cal Cast with University of Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari, the 30-year-old rapper revealed that his former role as “Degrassi’s” Jimmy was just the beginning.

“Acting is another thing that I just can’t wait to really dive into,” Drake shared. “After I release More Life, which is this playlist that I’m working on, and finish this tour, I think I’m gonna really start to position myself in the acting world, and hopefully take some great roles.”

During the discussion, the “One Dance” recording artist also opened up about how he landed his role on the hit drama series about the chaotic lives of kids at Degrassi Community School, dealing with serious and sometimes taboo issues that plague teenagers. “I think my first season of Degrassi I was 15 or 16 … I did something very stupid, which I made sure I never did again,” said Drizzy, admitting that before his audition he smoked weed. “A couple hours before my audition for Degrassi, I got high for the first time. Stupidly enough, I had to go do my first audition ever, so out of it.”

“I was in tears. I thought I threw my whole life away just to be cool. Just to fit in,” he added. “Lucky enough, I was gifted a callback to come audition … From that moment, I take everything I do seriously.”

While there’s no word on whether Drake already has a TV project in the works, he certainly has his hands full managing his love life. Previously reported, the superstar and fellow recording artist Jennifer Lopez first sparked romance rumors in late December after the rapper popped up at not one but two of Lopez’s Las Vegas shows. Just before Christmas, the chart toppers were also spotted enjoying an intimate dinner in Hollywood before being spotted in Vegas once more, where they celebrated New Year’s together.

Though several sources have claimed things are heating up between the rumored pair, Lopez appeared to calm the rumors in a recent interview, telling ET, “He just asked me to do a song with him and that’s what we’ve been doing … We’ll see if it’s on his next album.”
