Janet Jackson is calling it quits on her marriage to Wissam Al Mana.
After five years of marriage, the iconic singer has split from her Qatari businessman beau, multiple outlets report. One source tells Page Six that the decision to walk away from their union was amicable. Another source claimed that Jackson felt that Al Mana had become too controlling during her pregnancy.
A source told The Mail, who was first to report the news, “They’re both busy people but determined to be good parents, even if they’re apart. It’s amicable and Eissa will stay with his mother, who is basing herself in London.”
Previously reported, the then-lovebirds, who first met in 2010, welcomed their first child together, a baby boy named Eissa Al Mana, just months ago on January 3, 2017. “The rumors regarding an extravagant wedding are simply not true,” the couple previously told ET of their intimate ceremony, believed to have taken place sometime in 2012.
“Last year we were married in a quiet, private, and beautiful ceremony.” The couple added, “Our wedding gifts to one another were contributions to our respective favorite children’s charities.”
“We would appreciate that our privacy is respected and that we are allowed this time for celebration and joy,” the duo continued in a statement, signing off, “With love, Wissam and Janet.”
While the new parents have remained tight-lipped about their home life in the years since, sources tell People that Jackson and son are doing “really good” and that “she absolutely loves” motherhood.
Meanwhile, another insider gave some insight on Jackson’s current state, telling E! News, “She is a really zen person. She is in her element. She loves being a mom and this is what she has been waiting her whole life for.”
This is a third divorce for Jackson, 46, who was previously married to James DeBarge and René Elizondo, Jr.
