If I had to describe the 2017 Mercedes-Benz S550 Cabriolet in two words, they would be – simply beautiful.

Excuse the cliché, but this elegant, cozy convertible will have you feeling like you are literally sitting in the lap of luxury. The aesthetics of this luxurious six-figure priced beauty make it all worth it.

When our test model arrived, it sported an exterior finish in Emerald Green Metallic and was styled with the Saddle Brown leather interior and Piano Black Lacquer Flowing Lines wood accents. The base price of our test vehicle is $131,400, while options and values added packages raised the final price to $161,675.

A standard characteristic of the S-class series is it features a 4.7L V8 Biturbo engine with ECO Start/Stop System and 449-horsepower. In 2017, Mercedes-Benz adopted a nine-speed automatic in all of the S550s, which contributes to its ability to reach 60 mph in a quick 4.4 seconds, as well 0 to 100 mph in 10.7 seconds. The EPA estimates the fuel economy at 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.

There is a host of Intelligent Drive system features offered such as PRE-SAFE Brake with pedestrian detection, DISTRONIC PLUS with steering assist, active lane keeping assist, PARKTRONIC with Active Parking Assist and Adaptive Highbeam Assist, to name a few.

Fully loaded with the latest state-of-the-art technology, the convertible top drops in under 20 seconds. The progress of the conversion appears on the driver information center screen. The soft top is available in black, dark blue, beige and dark red. When opened, the three-layer soft top stows in the luggage compartment space.

Diving the Mercedes-Benz S550 Cabriolet was a pleasure. The automobile is gorgeous inside and out and has so much to offer. If you have the means to do a little more than splurge on a new vehicle, it’s definitely worth every dollar spent.
