A beautiful Nubian sister … Serena Williams has taken time out from tennis to start a family. Today, the global superstar athlete is sure to break the internet with her stunning Vanity Fair cover. She was photographed by Annie Leibovitz in a similar fashion to the famed Demi Moore cover shoot from 1991.
In an open letter to her unborn baby, on April 24, Williams wrote on Instagram:
My Dearest Baby, You gave me the strength I didn’t know I had. You taught me the true meaning of serenity and peace. I can’t wait to meet you. I can’t wait for you to join the players box next year. But most importantly, I am so happy to share being number one in the world with you…. once again today. On @alexisohanian bday. ? from the world’s oldest number one to the world’s youngest number one. -Your Mommy
William opens up this time about love and impending motherhood for the Vanity Fair cover which hit the web today, the story starts, “Last January, on the eve of the Australian Open, Serena Williams handed her fiancé, Alexis Ohanian, a paper bag containing six positive pregnancy tests. When she found out she was pregnant, Serena exclaimed, “Oh my God, this can’t be — I’ve got to play a tournament,” said Serena. “How am I going to play the Australian Open? I had planned on winning Wimbledon this year.”
On meeting her better half … “I see this super-tall guy get in our [van], and I was like, ‘Oh my God, Jill. Tell me what’s wrong. Do I have another stalker? Why is Rome sending personal security with me. . . . And she’s like, ‘No, that’s Alexis.’ I remembered his name because it was a unique name. I was like, ‘Oh, I remember.’ ”
On the surprise proposal on Dec. 10 … “I knew it was coming. I was like, ‘Serena, you’re 35, you’re ready. This is what you
