Woman denies R. Kelly is holding her captive (video)

Joycelyn Savage, the 21-year-old woman whose family held a press conference to try to coax her away from R. Kelly, is denying she is being held against her will by the R&B singer.

Nevertheless, the internet is going crazy as they notice the shadow on Savage’s shirt allegedly telling her to say “no” and the hands waving just off camera.

In an interview with TMZ, Savage says she is in “a happy place” and is “totally fine.”

“I am not being brainwashed or anything like that,” Savage said. “I just want everybody to know, my parents and everybody else in the world that I am totally fine and happy where I’m at.”

Savage’s parents, Tim and Jonjelyn Savage, told Buzzfeed News that they had last seen their daughter in December 2016 and have desperately tried to find her and return her home. They have contacted law enforcement in Chicago and suburban Atlanta about their daughter. This has led to welfare checks at Kelly’s properties. Since Savage and the other women are of legal age, however, there is little police can do to force them to return home to their families.

Over the last five to six months, Joycelyn Savage says she has kept her distance because her parents were “causing problems in my life.”

“I haven’t wanted to speak with them because of what they’re doing,” she said. She has adamantly refused to reveal her current location.

Her parents insist Savage is being controlled by the man born Robert Kelly. During a press conference in Atlanta, Tim and Jonjelyn Savage said their daughter is “severely brainwashed.”

“She’s brainwashed to the point where she says anything that he asks her to say. She’s not the same Joycelyn that we knew,” the mother said.

Kelly, through his attorney, has denied holding women against their will. He has issued a thinly-veiled threat to take action against those who accuse him of such behavior, insinuating that these accusations amount to character assassination. Savage’s father, however, has dared R. Kelly to sue him.
