Yes, ladies and gentlemen, you read the above title correctly. There are actually a lot of people out there who are praising President Donald Trump for showing up at Hurricane Harvey, and took the opportunity to simultaneously blast former President Barack Obama for not appearing during Hurricane Katrina 12 years ago.
There’s just one problem with their misplaced anger, a big problem (if you are a right-wing Trump supporter, please sit down and read the following statements very, very slowly):
Hurricane Katrina destroyed New Orleans and southern Mississippi in 2005. Obama did not get elected until November 2008 and did not become president until January 2009. For those of you who flunked mathematics, this simply means that Obama did not occupy the White House for more than three years after Katrina became the most expensive natural disaster of all time.
If you don’t believe that such people do live in blissful ignorance, check out this small sampling from Twitter:
Idiots. OBAMA WAS NOT PRESIDENT DURING KATRINA. pic.twitter.com/ENwiE9FyD0

And then, tragically, there is this info from a distinguished research center, which is even more damning of Trump disciples/Obama haters:
In 2013 we found Louisiana Republicans narrowly blamed Obama more than Bush for Katrina https://t.co/mjulPKVCmb

That is just the state of Louisiana. This means that millions of people nationwide probably feel the same way. These are people who actually have enough brain power to stand upright, but cannot recall accurate information from just 12 years ago.
The fact that a legion of Obama haters would blame him for something that he had nothing to do with, instead of President George W. Bush, is just plain dumbfounding. Don’t you Obama haters remember when Kanye West famously said on national TV that “George Bush don’t care about Black people” during the cleanup and recovery after Katrina?
Well, now we know why it’s hard to discuss topics like Jim Crowism, Reconstruction, the Harlem Renaissance/Marcus Garvey and slavery with this ilk of people. They can’t even handle modern history.
If you have the stomach for it, below are more Obama detractors lambasting the 44th president for not appearing in New Orleans during Katrina. Thankfully, there are some well-adjusted, educated folks patrolling Twitter who eagerly point out the right-wingers’ stupidity in the first degree.
Why is @realDonaldTrump so excited about #Harvey ? Just keeps raving about how big it is. Does he know people are dying? Does he care?

Katrina: Aug 2005
Obama: Sworn in as POTUS Jan 20, 2009
