The decision by a Morehouse College athletic director to meet a woman on Craigslist almost cost him his life. According the Fayette County News, Morehouse College Athletic Director Andre Patillo sent an Uber to pick up a woman he contacted on the personals section of Craigslist Atlanta to bring her to his home.
Patillo and the unidentified woman reportedly had drinks and according to a police report, the Morehouse official stated that she was talking on the phone the entire time she was at his home. At one point, Patillo went to lie down in his bed and he noticed that his front door was slightly open. He asked the woman why was his door open and she stated she went outside for a moment and forgot to close it all the way. Satisfied with her answer, he went to his bed and a short time later a man armed with a gun entered the room and ordered Patillo to get on the floor. The man and woman began ransacking the home and the woman allegedly stated to Patillo, “Baby, I’m sorry. I just needed some money for my kids.”
At some point, the gunman became distracted and Patillo was able to run from his house, clad only in gym shorts, and through the woods to a neighboring house yelling for someone to call 911. Police arrived at the scene but the suspects were able to get away with his cell phone, bank card, laptop, a Glock 9mm and possibly other items. The male suspect was identified as a young, light-skinned Black male in his mid-twenties, wearing blue jeans and a white shirt with dreadlocks. Patillo stated to police he also heard a second man’s voice in the house but did not see the individual. A neighbor reported that she saw two young Black males run into the woods from across the street before being picked up by a black Jeep Cherokee that was being driven by a light-skinned black individual with dreadlocks.
