The tale of a Florida mother smelling something strange from her adult son’s bedroom involved his girlfriend and a gruesome discovery. Della Wright realized her adult son Jerome Wright, 32, has had mental issues since he was a child and described him as troubled to local Miami media outlet News10. But the smell from his room and his appearance motivated her to call 911. According to Della Wright, she had smelled a foul order for several days and her son gave excuses that “he saw a rat in his room, had diarrhea and that the dog defecated on the floor.”
Last Saturday, Oct. 28, the smell was so bad she called the police to investigate. When police arrived, Jerome Wright emerged from his room naked, sweaty and smelling foul. When police further questioned him, he stated whatever they found in his room was not real and he got it from the internet. That is when officers entered the room and saw a mattress and trash can covered in bodily fluids. Wright told the cops he had a life size blow up doll in his closet, but it was made of flesh. When police opened the closet they discovered a leg sticking out from under blankets and clothing.
When they removed the clothing, they found the body of Deanna Clendinen, 52, the woman Wright had been dating for the at least a year. According to friends, the woman had been missing for several days. Police would later state that she had lacerations across her stomach and multiple internal organs had been removed.
Wright was arrested and faces charges of abusing a dead body and remains in police custody. Clendinen’s cause of death is still pending the outcome of her autopsy. Wright denies that he killed Clendinen. He was on probation for domestic violence against the dead woman at the time of his arrest.
