Oprah Winfrey loves drinking margaritas, according to Reese Witherspoon.
The 64-year-old media mogul stars alongside the Legally Blonde actress in the new Disney movie A Wrinkle in Time and Witherspoon gushed about her co-star, saying she was like her “best friend” and so much fun on the set.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Witherspoon said: “We had at least four hours doing hair and makeup every day, and Oprah could have had her own trailer. But she decided she wanted to do it with Mindy [Kaling] and myself. She really is like your best friend.
“She’s relatable, she loves to have a good time, she loves to drink a margarita.”
Winfrey also repaid the compliment and said off camera they would constantly listen to American singer-songwriter Sam Cooke.
She said: “I can’t remember the last time I had that much fun.
“We were fired up. We were alive in that trailer every morning. Reese was the DJ, playing all this old Southern blues music.
“We listened to more Sam Cooke than I’ve heard since I was a kid.”
The new movie — which is helmed by Ava DuVernay — is based on the 1962 sci-fi novel of the same title by Madeleine L’Engle.
It follows Meg Murry (Storm Reid) who works with her highly intelligent brother and fellow student Calvin O’Keeffe (Levi Miller) and three astral travelers Mrs. Which (Winfrey), Mrs. Whatsit (Witherspoon) and Mrs. Who (Kaling) to rescue her father Alex who is being held captive on a distant planet.
Recently, Winfrey caused a stir after her speech at the Golden Globes on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, set tongues wagging about a potential presidential candidacy for the 2020 election, but her close friend Gayle King said she isn’t interested.
Gayle said: “I do think she is intrigued, [but] that doesn’t mean she is thinking about running. I do think that the speech was a different moment for her. … She knew that she met the moment, but the reaction to the speech has been sort of overwhelming to her.
“Listen, Oprah has got a very nice life. She is doing very well for herself and this is not something she is seeking or trying to encourage people to even encourage her to run.”
