With a total of 130 men’s and women’s college basketball games played in less than a month, it can be difficult for fans to catch every second of the March Madness action. Starting on today, select owners of Buick vehicles can get a free month of 4G LTE Wi-Fi, enabled by AT&T, so they can catch the games almost anywhere they are beginning Monday, March 12, 2018.

As a longstanding NCAA partner, Buick is excited to offer March Madness fans the ability to watch their teams while on the go, especially since viewers are increasingly turning to online streaming to watch the games. According to CBS, in 2017 March Madness live streaming views increased 33 percent year over year to a total of 22.4 million hours of live online viewing.

Buick also has created an exclusive NCAA Tournament app that allows drivers to easily listen to the games’ live audio feeds. The new app will be available for the duration of the NCAA Tournament on Buick vehicles that come with the Shop icon on their infotainment system. The app requires an active Wi-Fi connection to use.

“Since launching the unlimited data plan option during March Madness last year, we’ve seen monthly data usage increase more than 150 percent in our vehicles,” says Phil Brook, vice president, Buick and GMC Marketing, in a statement. “Buick owners live an active lifestyle and value staying connected. By offering a free month of unlimited in-vehicle Wi-Fi data to eligible customers during March Madness, we’re helping ensure fans don’t miss out on any of the excitement.”

The free unlimited data offer is available for current owners in the U.S. who have a vehicle equipped with an OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot and do not currently have an active data plan. To sign up for this limited time offer, Buick customers need to visit www.buick.com/hoops to enter their email and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) between March 12-16.

Owners will be able to use an unlimited amount of 4G LTE data free for 30 days, which will take customers through the Division I women’s and men’s basketball championship games on April 1 and April 2, respectively.

Buick offers vehicles with a Wi-Fi hotspot for model year 2015 and newer (model year 2016 and newer for Enclave owners) as long as they’ve agreed to OnStar terms and conditions. For only $20 per month, owners can get unlimited 4G LTE Wi-Fi in order to connect up to seven mobile devices — including tablets, smartphones and laptops — to their Buick’s Wi-Fi hotspot at one time.

In addition to the new NCAA Tournament app, Buick vehicles with Shop also include a handful of entertainment, news and music applications. An active Wi-Fi connection is required to download and use these in-vehicle apps.
