Soundset Music Festival was on fire — not just the 90-degree heat wave; the stage was lit too! The day was filled with 40-plus blazing acts who survived the Minneapolis heatwave and excited fans. Of all the many acts, it was very hard to pick the top performers. But if I would have to name top acts, it would be Erykah Badu, Rapsody and a three-way tie between The Lioness, Mac Irv and Prof.

The main stage crowds were very live when Mac Irv, Prof, Wu Tang, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Jaden Smith, Migos and Tyler The Creator hit the stage. To the point where people had to be pulled out of the crowd to avoid being injured because of others jumping around and arms being thrown.

The overall festival was very fun, hot and exciting. Two of the biggest music festival takeaways: the stages were close to one another so fans didn’t have to walk far for each performance, plus the variety of food was appealing. Also, festival staff was very helpful when it came to individuals passing out because of the heat. The organizers were not being overly protective of the artists when fans rushed the stages, so Prof, Mac Irv, Willie Wonka, Method Man, ace Boogie Wit The Hoodie, Jaden Smith and Eryhak Badu all interacted with the fans and media. -nagashia jackson
