GIF album review: Nas’ new album ‘Nasir’

Nas returns to the spotlight armed with a new album and a shitload of controversy. The former comes in the form of a 7 song, 26-minute album titled, Nasir. The album, which was executive produced by Kanye West, is the fourth of five G.O.O.D. Music albums dropped over a five week period. The latter is a host of stunning domestic abuse allegations levied against the rapper by ex-wife and “Milkshake” singer Kelis.

I recently sat down for a listening session with RO staffer Amara to delve deep into Nasir, and see if we could arrive at a consensus on the album.

We could not … which, you’ll see after the jump.

But first, a classic.

Here’s our Nas throwback play of the week, “If I Ruled the World”
