A Dayton, Ohio, man has been sentenced for a horrendous series of rapes perpetrated over years on a single victim. Zaren Wiesenborn, 19, pleaded guilty to 13 counts of rape and gross sexual imposition and seven counts of kidnapping and told police because he liked the power he had over his victim.
The victim, according to WHIO-News, was a 17-year-old female that Wiesenborn knew very well. According to the witness and Wiesenborn, he would rape her whenever he felt like it. He stated to police that “he liked feeling the power of control over [the girl] and he would do these actions as a punishment toward her for aggravating him.”
The unidentified victim was finally able to summon the courage to let police know the torment she had to endure from Wiesenborn, and he was arrested in March 2018. Since that time, he has been sitting in the Montgomery County Jail with a bail amount of $200,000, while he waited to be sentenced. On Tuesday, October 30, 2018, a judge threw the book at the rapist.
Wiesenborn was given a sentence of 78 years in prison for the crimes he committed against the victim. If he serves every day of his sentence, he will be 99 when released.
“Thankfully, this victim had the tremendous courage to come forward and disclose what (Wiesenborn) had done to her,” Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck said in a statement to the news media. “Wiesenborn deserves to spend every single day of his sentence in prison so that he cannot harm this victim or anyone else ever again.”
