Another star from the gritty show “Empire” has run afoul of the law and subsequently added to the woes of the besieged TV series.
Actor Bryshere Gray, who rocketed to stardom as the youngest child, Hakeem Lyons, on the Fox weekly drama, was arrested for several traffic infractions while cruising in his luxury whip, Page Six has learned.
Gray, 25, was pulled over in the Chi Thursday because his tags didn’t match his 2014 Rolls-Royce.
After initiating the traffic stop, Chicago police also learned that Gray was driving his 2014 Rolls-Royce without a valid driver’s license. Gray was also reportedly driving the Rolls without any insurance on the car.
These are relatively minor offenses in comparison to his co-stars. Gray was charged with a misdemeanor for not having tags that matched the registration and he was also cited for not having a valid driver’s license nor insurance. He was booked and released.
As most of pop culture is already aware, Jussie Smollett was arrested and charged with allegedly staging a hoax homophobic and racist beatdown in January. Though the 16 felonies were later dropped by the Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx, the city of Chicago has filed a $100K lawsuit to recoup the man-hours spent investigating the case. Worse, pundits and fans believe the Smollett debacle led to the cancellation of the hit show — “Empire” — once it closes out the upcoming season.
Furthermore, Terrence Howard, who plays — Lucious Lyons — the ruthless patriarch of the musical family, is under investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice for alleged criminal tax evasion. Howard’s wife is also a subject of the federal probe.
