For serial entrepreneur Rachel Mathews, ‘mediocrity has never been an option’

Why is it important for experienced Black women to reach back and help younger women of color?

Because they are our future. As an African American woman, I want to ensure that I am able to give [direction and help] to create paths that were much harder for my generation. Mistakes will happen but, hopefully, with giving a helping hand, they won’t duplicate those mistakes.

What are three success habits you implement in your daily routine to maintain your success, sanity and peace of mind?

Prayer, self-care and surrounding myself with positive people who motivate me to be better and do better.

What encouraging piece of advice would you give to your younger self?

I would tell my younger self “you are perfectly imperfect.” I can be anything I set my mind to. Finally, don’t give up on life no matter what circumstances and stumbling blocks may come. Make no excuses and stay out of your own way.

As a successful woman in business, what is your proudest achievement?

My proudest achievement is stepping out on faith, following my dreams to become an entrepreneur and now owning multiple businesses.
