1. Michael Brown: On Aug. 9, 2014, Michael Brown Jr., an 18-year-old African American man, was fatally shot by 28-year-old white Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson in the city of Ferguson, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis. Darren Wilson was exonerated of any charges and allowed to resign without penalties.
2. Tamir Rice: was a 12-year old African-American boy playing with a toy gun when he shot by 26-year-old police officer Timothy Loehmann on Nov. 22, 2014, at a park in Cleveland. According to the (Cleveland) Plain Dealer, Loehmann shot Rice as soon as he exited his squad car. The officer was not convicted of a crime.
3. Eric Garner: On July 17, 2014, Eric Garner died in the New York City borough of Staten Island after Daniel Pantaleo, a former New York officer, put him in a chokehold while arresting him for selling loose cigarettes. Video footage of the incident generated widespread national attention and protests and questions about the outlawed chokehold as a method of subduing subjects. Pantaleo was never brought up on charges and it took five years for him to even get terminated. Speculation has it that he will soon be hired by another police department.
4. Philando Castile: On July 6, 2016, Philando Castile, 32, was killed during a traffic stop while driving in Falcon Heights, Minnesota, a suburb of Minneapolis. He was killed by officer Jeronimo Yanez. Castille was killed after notifying Yanez that he had a gun on him. His girlfriend captured the grisly shooting on her Facebook Live account.
