During her visit, Oprah also attended a special luncheon with Morehouse College faculty, staff, the board of trustees with over 500 people in attendance, including Ambassador Andrew Young, civil rights hero Joseph Lowery, Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and president emeritus of Morehouse College Robert Franklin. An oil portrait was unveiled to honor the philanthropist for her generous support of Morehouse over the years.

“… I understand that African American men are an endangered species. They are so misunderstood. They are so marginalized,” Oprah said, according to CNN.
“Where and when I can lend support to try to change that image, I do. That is what Morehouse is doing. It is saying, ‘This is who we really are.’ ”
As shown in the video, Oprah was showered with a rose-giving ceremony that seemed to sincerely move her.
“Seeing you young Oprah Winfrey Scholars here today has moved me deeply,” Winfrey said on Monday, Oct. 7. “I am so proud of you, I’m proud of everybody in attendance at this school who is seeking to know more clearly who you are, the value you hold and how you will share that value with the rest of the world.”
