What is it like playing the love interest of Lucious Lyon and working with Terrence Howard?
Working with Terrence Howard has been, I must say, quite a joy. He’s extremely supportive and encouraging. He’s wonderful with giving advice, and if you have a question about something, he’s just open to sharing what he’s learned or his knowledge. I really wouldn’t have asked for another first-scene partner because he is my first-scene partner for doing TV. I wouldn’t have asked for anyone else. … As far as playing his love interest, that’s also been a joy. As I said, he’s really supportive, and he helps create a very comfortable free space for me to learn and to be myself and to just do my work and to not question my work, to be confident in it and to be free in it, and it has been a beautiful experience.
What projects do you have coming up, and what can we expect from the rest of the season of “Empire”?
You’ll definitely see some more of Yana on “Empire.” So, be on the lookout for her. The next thing I’m really working on is music. Whether it’s an EP or an album, we haven’t decided yet, but we’re definitely in the studio getting the music together to be put out. 2020 it’s going to happen. Look out for that and be ready for that.
Audiences can follow Richardson @kiandrasmusic on Instagram and Facebook and catch her on the remaining episodes of “Empire” at 9 p.m. (EST) Tuesdays on Fox.
