Snoop Dogg and hockey?

While it may sound odd to some, the hip-hop icon appears to be heading to the NHL and has been heavily teased as a celebrity commentator for EA Sports’ latest installment in the ice hockey simulation franchise.

Although the news hasn’t officially been announced yet, the game’s official Twitter account shared a silhouetted image of a person who looks uncannily like Snoop, alongside a telling caption.

Referencing the 48-year-old star, the tweet read: “It’s about to go down, fo’ shizzle.”

The “Drop It Like It’s Hot” rapper is no stranger to the world of hockey, having joined the broadcast booth for a Los Angeles Kings game earlier this year.

He was also enlisted by the NHL to explain the rules to newcomers in a lighthearted video in 2018.

When EA Sports announced the title in June, the company revealed plans to introduce celebrity commentators over time.

Although specific guest stars aren’t being confirmed just yet, GameSpot reports there was a slide earlier this year which included Snoop, Drake, and hockey legend Wayne Gretzky.

In another effort to broaden the appeal of “NHL 20,” the studio has also introduced sportsman from the NFL and NBA as playable characters.
