If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything about your latest work?
I wouldn’t change a thing about this book. I think I have shared my story in truth and from a place that I had tried to forget.
What is the mission you set out to accomplish with your voice in this book?
To tell my heart-wrenching story in a way that would let the reader know that there is no shame in where and what you come from. To let them know that generational chains and curses can be broken. Your legacy can be changed by the decisions you … make.
Name three things the reader should walk away with from this book?
[A] better understanding of Terrell Carter and how I became the man I am today; that God’s plan for your life can very well start messed up and unstable and set to fail; [and] don’t let the circumstances that you were born into define who you are.
What’s next for you?
I will be finishing up this final season of “Empire,” releasing new music and finishing up my second book.
