Meek Mill is keeping true to his word and continuing to support families impacted by the criminal justice system. On Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020, he and his Dreamchasers crew surprised 35 Philadelphia families with loved ones who are locked up and gave out toys, clothes and Xbox consoles.
Partnering with REFORM Alliance, Puma, GoPuff, and DocuVault, some of the other gifts included MacBook Air laptops and iPads. Spreading joy and cheer, Meek Mill explained in a news release, “It’s been a tough year for all of us, but through all the ups and downs, I’ll always do my part to support and give back to the Philly community that raised me. I remember not having much growing up, so it’s important to use my platform to give back, especially to the families trying to provide for their kids while also dealing with the criminal justice system.”
The Maybach Music emcee also FaceTimed some of the families as they expressed their stories and heartfelt appreciation. In addition, Meek revealed that he donated $30,000 to the Philadelphia chapter of the volunteer organization Twelve Days of Christmas. The organization also helps families in need during the holiday season.
Meek has been gifting his community with coats and gifts for several years now, and the donations keep getting bigger as his bag increases. As previously reported, The “Ima Boss” rapper launched a $2 milion scholarship to aid underprivileged preschool and high school students in Philly. Partnering with Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Mike Rubin, the money will be used to assist 1,000 students with scholarships and tuition for the rest of the 2020-2021 school year.
Meek also took a small break this year from his philanthropy and criminal justice reform endeavors and dropped his Quarantine Pack project in November. The four-song EP features the hit single “Middle Of It” as well as collaborations with Lil Uzi Vert, 42 Dugg and Vory.
