The Beauty Broker’s guide to summer hair care

Powe relies on hydration, roller sets, and protective styles in the summer and says the most popular summer hairstyles are braids, crochet, and weaves. When it comes to trends, Powe notices a lot of women sporting “edgy haircuts” and incorporating braids with sleek straight styles. The “go-to” summer products she recommends are Nairobi Wrapp-It and Shine Foam, Silicon mix conditioner, and Wow Dream Coat humidity spray.

When summer swimming, whether in a chlorine pool or a saltwater pool, the key is to not get your hair in the water. This goes for recently colored hair or poor porosity hair and lastly, dry hair. Powe also cautions to always shampoo and condition after swimming, noting preventative care is the best care.

In 2021, Powe is launching her own line of products, including hair growth oil called “Summers Rose.” Featuring all-natural oils, twenty-two different herbs, flowers, and minerals for growth, Powe also has formulated a beard oil called “Black Rose.”

Recently, Powe has expanded to skincare as well with her new luxury body butters and oils. All of Powe’s products are sourced from India, Ghana, and Brazil.
