Jim Jones wants marijuana criminal records expunged after NY legalizes weed

“I do believe they need to start freeing all of our people that’s been locked up for these senseless crimes (revolving around marijuana), so we still got a lot more work to do. With that, they have these social equity programs that they do on the West Coast and hopefully they’ll be able to bring those same programs to the East Coast,” added the rapper.

“[It’s] where people who’ve been locked up for the same crimes as marijuana can now come out and dive into the marijuana business by these social equity programs… As far as giving them the legal rights to sell, distribute and grow weed or however that goes,” concluded the Harlem trendsetter to TMZ.

Cuomo seems to agree with Jim Jones. After the bill’s passing, he tweeted similar feelings regarding past marijuana convictions.

“I just signed legislation legalizing adult-use cannabis. The bill creates automatic expungement of previous marijuana convictions that would now be legal. This is a historic day. I thank the Leader and Speaker and the tireless advocacy of so many.”
