Michael B. Jordan discusses directorial tips he learned from Denzel Washington

One vital film experience that Jordan recognized as extremely important to Washington is storyboarding and being prepared. Storyboards are drawings that approximate how a director is going to film a scene.

Prep and shot listing and getting the storyboard artist on early are what Jordan says he “specifically” picked up. “I do have that call I’ve got to make this evening with my storyboard artist. It’s extremely important to me that my time’s going to be split. So prep for me is so important, just to be as prepared as possible. I have as much of the movie that I can clearly see in my head, have it visually there with tons of collaboration, [and] putting a great team around me,” added the actor.

Christening Denzel as “The GOAT” of the craft, Jordan also called the experience of filming A Journal for Jordan a “masterclass and a crazy education on character development, directing and producing.”
