How do you come up with your flow and song mix?
My creative process is the basics, the songs that you can’t go wrong with. These are the anthems in whatever setting it might be. Could be someone’s wedding reception, can be the club, it can be a concert. You know these five songs you can’t beat. Then I try to base another three to five songs based on each song.
Who are the top 10 artists on your playlist right now?
Jay, Drake, Future, Thug. Lately, it’s been Don Toliver. Baby Keem has my ear. NAV, Gunna… Oh, Duke Deuce has my ear right now, and Young Dolph.
What apps and technology do you use to organize yourself daily?
I use Ableton every day on my production site. Serato DJ is the standard for if you’re deejaying in a club or concert. So, those are the apps I’m pretty much using, really.
What advice would you have for young Black guys or girls who dream of becoming a DJ?
No. 1 is just making sure your heart is in it, making sure you really want to do this, and I think that comes with trial and error. Practice and really try to set yourself up for success. You just want to figure out what type of DJ you are so that you don’t go into this situation listening to so many people tell you how to play. Take constructive criticism, but figure out your way and just go on your way.
