Atlanta’s own Big Boi has turned the Dungeon Family Atlanta home studio into an Airbnb property, according to Rolling Stone.
Commonly known as The Dungeon to music fans and industry heads, the iconic residence is where Outkast and the Dungeon Family recorded timeless music together and it will now serve as an Airbnb location for a limited time this summer.
The rapper purchased the home two years ago and will host three overnight stays starting on June 29. The two remaining dates are July 1 and July 3. Patrons will be charged only $25 a night to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Outkast’s 1996 LP ATLiens.
The Dungeon will be available for booking on June 25 on Airbnb’s website.
“Atlanta is my home, and I grew up with the Dungeon Family in this house,” Big Boi told Rolling Stone. “We would spend hours hanging out in the basement, writing rhymes and putting together beats at all hours of the night. Since purchasing the home, I’ve been excited to open its doors and welcome the next generation of artists to the space that inspired countless songs.”
Big Boi is giving the overnight guests access to the state-of-the-art Dungeon basement studio, allowing them to record with Yamaha audio equipment. The rapper is also providing guided tours for guests to see the house that became a hot spot for Atlanta hip-hop.
The house decor will be dedicated to Outkast’s legacy, including a fireplace painted to resemble the black-and-white American flag seen on the Stankonia cover, a peacock-feathered wicker chair, a fur coat-blanket inspired by the Speakerboxxx cover, platinum plaques, Outkast-inspired artwork, and more.
“Step inside my newly remixed house, where you’ll find a fresh take on the place where hip hop history was made,” Big Boi writes on the listing. “You and a guest will live like music royalty for one night in a space designed to celebrate all of the Dungeon Family’s successes.”
To celebrate Big Boi’s career and new venture as an Airbnb host, Airbnb will make a one-time donation to Atlanta Public Schools Music Department to expand resources and increase music education.
To minimize risks with COVID restrictions still in place, guests must currently live in the United States. Airbnb will provide transportation in a fashionable Escalade to and from the house, but guests are responsible for their own travel to Georgia.
