LeBron James was in the house for his son Bronny’s basketball showcase over the July Fourth weekend. Everything was cool until James quickly jumped to his son’s defense after the commentator’s call of a play the teen made that drew a foul.
According to Yahoo! Sports, Bronny James was playing at the St. Vincent-St. Mary high school gym in Akron, Ohio, where his father was a a top basketball prospect in the 1990s. The gym is now called the LeBron James Arena.
In the waning moments of the Wildcat Select’s overtime victory, 73-69, officials called a foul on the person guarding Bronny James as he drove to the hole for his Strive for Greatness team. But instead of simply naming the player and his number, the announcer took it further and said the foul was called because of who James is and what gym they were playing in.
James stood up from his seat near the baseline to yell at the announcer, who was sitting at midcourt. What exactly James said to the unidentified announcer is not known.
Yahoo! Sports stated that the title on the YouTube video, which has since gone viral, is not accurate. There was no fight, just strong words.
