So for our community, what should we do? We have a true debt to them because they’re our brothers and sisters. What can individuals do to support the relief effort?
Haiti has an amazing history. It has an amazing culture, something that we can all be proud of, no matter where you are as a Black person in this world. Haiti has just such a strong connection to all of us. We are working closely with the Haitian government. We’re working closely with the U.S. Embassy in Haiti, but also humanitarian organizations on the ground, the UN World Food Programme, the International Organization for Migration, the Catholic Relief Services, and the American Red Cross. So if [anyone] wants to assist, I would suggest reaching out to them and getting involved in any way that you possibly can. We all have ways that we can tap into what we’re good at to help the people of Haiti. And also I would suggest going to the USAID website, where you will see the incredible work that they are doing to help the people of Haiti.
