6 signs that it might be time to let the friendship go

They’re dismissive and put you down

Playful mocking is often accepted in friendships but if a friend is purposely trying to humiliate you and make you feel bad about yourself, they’re not someone you need in your life. The people in your corner should be your staunch supporters, while also giving you useful feedback if needed. If you can only rely on them for criticism, it’s time to let them go.

They don’t take accountability or apologize

It is a huge red flag if a friend is unable to see their wrongdoing when it’s pointed out to them. This is a clear-cut sign that they believe they can’t do any wrong and have a lack of empathy for the people around them.

You feel like you’re walking on eggshells and can’t be yourself around them

Friendships should act as safe spaces where you can be your true self. If your friend makes an issue or takes offense to everything you say to the point where you feel like you have to start filtering yourself, it’s probably time to reassess the relationship.
