Taraji P. Henson has been forthcoming and transparent when sharing intimate details of her past life experiences on her Facebook watch show, “Peace of Mind,” which covers topics related to mental health and well-being.
In a clip released Friday, Oct. 22 of an upcoming episode, Henson opened up about the abuse she suffered at the hands of an ex-partner.
“It started with the bruises and you know, grabbing and things like that. Once the fists came, once the balled hand came, and the fist – I’m missing a piece of my lip to this day. That’s when I knew I had to go,” Henson revealed.
“I grew up around it and at the time I had my son and I was like, ‘I don’t want my son around this,'” she added.
The upcoming episode will also feature fashion designer and television personality Angela Simmons as she shares detailed accounts of the physical, mental, and emotional abuse she suffered from a past relationship, and how it took a toll on her mental health.
Simmons said that she felt “broken” and blamed herself for the abuse she endured. “How could I make someone so upset that they would treat me like that?” she queried aloud.
The episode is set to air on Monday, Oct. 25, 2021, on Facebook Watch.
