The relationship between JSU and Walmart stems from the school’s football coach Deion Sanders. The corporation has previously helped sponsor a new turf practice field and arranged for on-campus COVID-19 vaccination stations.
As a part of Walmart’s $100 million commitment announced last year to address inequality through education, health and criminal justice systems, the corporation has made a $3 million investment in the Walmart.org Center for Racial Equity. The investments include a joint center for political and economic studies, a foundation with a focus on agriculture and technology as well as mentorship and pre-internship services for students.
